| The Philosophy
Parallaxis Psychotherapy utilizes existential analysis to increase awareness of the interplay of self and environment as a means to understanding the human response to psychological pain. The therapeutic modality employed is existential in nature. It is a philosophical approach that is grounded on the assumption that we are free to the extent to which we mitigate the resultant of the interplay (between self and environment). Despite that which is uncontrollable and sometimes unwanted, stressful, or even painful, we have the innate POWER to respond without fear or suffering. |

| We need simply to rediscover that which has always been. We are the architects of our lives, and draft the blueprints for their design. We are free and are therefore responsible for our choices and actions, but without knowledge of self, we are unaware of what choices to make or how they will affect our future. Through an existential analysis we can not only become more aware of how past choices have affected our current situation, but also how we can now, through knowledge and understanding, direct our future with determination of purpose and clarity of forethought. |

| The Treatment Process Knowledge A psychodynamic approach to therapy provides the foundation for understanding what has brought us to the point we are now. By analyzing unconscious drives, dreams, projections, and the development of personality, we can begin to understand how we have formulated our self-identity in response to our past experiences. Additionally it is necessary to understand the environment in which we live. An existential approach is then utilized to greater understand our environment and how we fit in it. Finally by understanding the dynamics of the two, we can begin to understand our reality. With this knowledge, we can consciously decide what past phenomena is still relevant and what is needed to move forward. Planning Armed with this new knowledge of ourselves, we can now begin to plan how we will respond to present, unresolved or future situations and thus determine the future course of our life. Implementation Evaluation and monitoring of progress. |
